"Thirty-two Butterflies" (mixed water media) by June Mullins Following the tragic loss of promising life at Virginia Tech, using art to express my own grief seemed natural. Whether to paint 32 or 33 butterflies was a troubling decision. Ultimately, 32--released to fly free--seemed right, with number 33 in a troubled bondage, still struggling for release.
