"Joyful all ye nations rise. Join the triumph of the skies. With the angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem." Come and worship the baby born to us, the one who grows up to teach us how to live in God's ways of justice, love, and peace. All are welcome to join us for prayer, singing, scripture reading, candle lighting. Dress , in your jeans, in your finest, in your pj's. Come as you are for that is how Christ loves us!
We often forget that Christmas isn't always a joyful time of year for everyone. Some are grieving the loss of loved ones, a job, a way of life, a relationship. Others are anxious, depressed, hurting, afraid. And for some, Christmas has never been a time of good cheer. We will gather this Thursday, December 21, the longest night of the year, at 7:30 to acknowledge our pain and our hope before God. I pray you will come to be a part of this deeply meaningful time of worship. Even if you aren't downhearted, you are very welcome to come and hold the light for those who are.

Thank for generously supporting the
programs and ministries of Glade Church.
Glade Church is a progressive Christian community that is part of the United Church of Christ. We are welcoming, compassionate, and joyful as we love and care for one another. We strive to discern God’s call for our lives individually and as a community through worship, study, fellowship, and service. We work for peace through social, economic, and ecological justice. We seek a greater understanding of others, and thus ourselves, recognizing that all persons are members of God’s family. Our community prepares and sustains us as we work together to bring about the world that we believe God intends. God sustains us through the community.
At Glade Church, our doors are wide open. No matter where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here. We don’t expect anyone to show up knowing any or all of the answers. And we certainly don’t claim to have all the answers. We admit we need God and each other as we seek God’s still speaking voice.
At Glade, you will find that we demonstrate an exuberant and extravagant welcome to all who seek to be in a relationship with God. We accept all people because everyone is welcome at God’s table – gay, straight, bisexual, transgender, single, married, widowed, divorced, red, yellow, black, white, rich, poor, healthy, ill, left, right, sure or unsure to name a few. We continually seek to widen our welcome. Be who God created you to be.
We are a church for all ages. Children are a vital and vibrant part of our community. We want them to have so much fun here that they become the ones pushing their parents to attend. We pray they will build meaningful friendships and learn the stories of our faith. At Glade, they will experience the love of God and this community. And, through our policies and actions, we endeavor for Glade to always be a nurturing and safe place for them.
Micah 6:8 calls disciples to do justice, love kindess, and walk humbly with our God. At Glade Church, we strive to take this call seriously. Through ministries like Laundry Love, the Blacksburg Refugee Partnership, and To Our House, we seek ways to walk with those who are treated unjustly.
As a member of the United Church of Christ, we join with our brothers and sisters of Christ around the globe to fight all types of injustice - civil, human, economic, environmental, health, and others from local to global. We look for ways both small and large to encourage the justice of God for everyone, not just for those who are privileged.
We want Glade Church to be home to the whole family and that includes the children!
We want all Glade kids to experience the joy of God’s love. We want them to build lasting friendships and learn how to navigate the world with the strength of God on their side!
We want both you and your children to feel safe at Glade. Two program leaders will be available for each program, so your child will never be alone or unsupervised.
